SPECIAL NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR SACRED TRAVELERS WHO HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR OUR TRAVEL WITH UNITY 2027 JAPAN TOUR AND WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND WITH A TOKYO ADD-ON.
After our Travel With Unity Japan Tour concludes, continue with us onto Tokyo – the Emerald City – one of the most dynamic cities on Earth—a place where centuries-old temples and sacred shrines stand alongside soaring skyscrapers, immersive digital art, tiny neighborhood cafés, bustling markets, world-class cuisine, and some of the most delightfully unexpected experiences imaginable.
Tokyo is a city of contrasts. Ancient traditions remain very much alive while innovation continually reinvents what a city can be. One moment we may be walking beneath the towering torii gates of a Shinto shrine; the next, crossing one of the busiest intersections in the world, making soba noodles with a Japanese chef, singing karaoke, or stepping inside an astonishing world of light and digital art.
We’ve designed this extension to give you a wonderful taste of Tokyo in just a few days: sacred spaces, fabulous food, immersive art, iconic sights, neighborhood discoveries and plenty of pure FUN.
In partnership with Spirit Tours, you get to travel in an open and relaxed state, knowing that all the details are taken care of! Enjoy daily spiritual practice and be surrounded by loving, like-minded travelers as you experience all that Japan has to offer.
Day 1: Thursday, October 28, 2027
Following breakfast and our closing circle for the main Travel With Unity Japan Tour, those continuing on our Tokyo adventure will say, “Bye for now” to the rest of our group and set off for Japan’s dazzling capital. And we’re going the FAST way!
All aboard Japan’s legendary Shinkansen Bullet Train for our approximately three-hour journey to Tokyo. Sit back and watch Japan unfold outside your window as we travel through cities, mountains and countryside—with the possibility of spectacular views of Mt. Fuji along the way.
Upon arrival, we’ll check into our beautiful, modern 4-star hotel, centrally located for exploring Tokyo.
Our first exploration takes us to Asakusa, where we step into the atmosphere of old Edo at Senso-ji, Tokyo’s oldest and one of its most beloved Buddhist temples.
Enter through the magnificent Kaminarimon, or Thunder Gate, with its enormous red lantern, before making our way toward Senso-ji and its striking five-story pagoda.
Between the gate and temple lies lively Nakamise-dori, a centuries-old shopping street filled with small shops and stalls selling Japanese sweets, rice crackers, crafts, souvenirs, street foods and traditional specialties.
There will be time to wander, taste, shop and simply take in the wonderful juxtaposition of historic Tokyo with the modern city surrounding it.
Tonight we experience something completely different—and one of our favorite experiences in all of Tokyo! teamLab Borderless is not a traditional museum. It is a vast, immersive world where art escapes its frames—and sometimes even its rooms.
Light, color, sound, projections and mirrors create an ever-changing three-dimensional world. Digital artworks move, interact, transform and flow into one another, creating an experience without boundaries.
You don’t simply look at the art here. You step inside it. It is playful, mesmerizing, surprising and unlike almost anything you will experience elsewhere.
Meal Included: Breakfast

Day 2: Friday, October 29, 2027
Today is a wonderful immersion into the many personalities of Tokyo—from one of Japan’s most important Shinto shrines to a tiny neighborhood tram, handmade noodles, lucky cats, rooftop views and the organized chaos of Shibuya.
We begin in the peaceful forest surrounding Meiji Jingu, one of Tokyo’s most significant Shinto shrines. Passing beneath its enormous torii gates, the noise and pace of the city seem to fall away as we walk along broad pathways surrounded by a magnificent forest.
Meiji Jingu is a place of prayer, celebration and ceremony, and is considered one of Japan’s important spiritual places. Here we have an opportunity to experience another side of Tokyo—quiet, reverent and deeply connected to Japanese tradition.
Next, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and put our aprons on! Under the guidance of a professional soba chef, we’ll learn the traditional process of making Japanese soba noodles from scratch.
We’ll mix and knead the buckwheat dough, carefully roll it out and hand-cut our own noodles before sitting down to enjoy the results for lunch, accompanied by seasonal tempura. It doesn’t get much fresher than that!
Our afternoon takes us off the typical tourist trail to charming Gotokuji Temple, famous for the hundreds upon hundreds of white maneki-neko, or beckoning lucky cats, that fill the temple grounds.
These whimsical cats have become symbols of good fortune and prosperity throughout Japan and around the world.
Part of the fun is getting there. We’ll ride the charming Setagaya Line, one of Tokyo’s few remaining streetcar lines, giving us a glimpse of everyday neighborhood life beyond the city’s major tourist districts.
Then we jump straight back into BIG Tokyo! Welcome to Shibuya, the heart of Tokyo’s youthful energy, fashion, food and nightlife.
At the legendary Shibuya Scramble Crossing, traffic comes to a halt and enormous waves of pedestrians pour into the intersection from every direction. It is organized chaos on a grand scale—and one of those unmistakable “We’re in Tokyo!” moments.
Next, we go UP! High above the city, Shibuya Sky offers extraordinary panoramic views across Tokyo. We’ll time our visit around sunset, watching daylight fade and one of the world’s great cities illuminate beneath us.
On a clear evening, the view seems to go on forever.
Tonight we’ll experience Tokyo the way locals often do—with good food, drinks and plenty of laughter. We’ll enjoy dinner at an izakaya, sampling Japanese favorites such as yakitori, sashimi and seasonal dishes in the relaxed atmosphere of a Japanese-style pub.
But the evening isn’t over yet. We’re heading into our own private karaoke room!
For one glorious hour, the room is ours. Sing your heart out, cheer on your fellow travelers, order a drink and experience one of Japan’s favorite forms of entertainment. Talent is entirely optional. Enthusiasm is highly encouraged!
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 3: Saturday, October 30, 2027
Our final day gives us another delicious—and uniquely Japanese—taste of Tokyo.
We begin at the legendary Tsukiji Outer Market, where Tokyo’s passion for extraordinary food is on full display.
Wander among the bustling stalls and shops selling incredibly fresh seafood, Japanese specialties, produce, snacks, tea, seasonings and professional cooking tools.
This is a wonderful place to sample your way through Tokyo. Try something you’ve never tasted before, watch vendors at work, browse the specialty shops or simply soak up the energy of one of the city’s great culinary destinations. Come hungry!
Then we’re getting up close with one of Japan’s most iconic traditions—SUMO!
At the Asakusa Sumo Club, former professional wrestlers introduce us to the fascinating world of Japan’s national sport.
We’ll learn about sumo traditions and rituals, watch demonstrations and bouts, and perhaps even see a few brave volunteers step into the ring!
Afterward, we’ll sit down together for a traditional chanko-nabe lunch—the hearty hot-pot dish famously associated with sumo wrestlers. It’s an entertaining, interactive and delicious way to experience another wonderful piece of Japanese culture.
Our Tokyo adventure officially concludes after our sumo experience, allowing you to begin your journey home. You can choose to stay a little longer for one very special optional adventure that is NOT included in this Tokyo Add-on…
