Mosi-oa-Tunya “The smoke that thunders”
See all the beauty of Victoria Falls on a 4-day tour including one night in Johannesburg and roundtrip flights to Victoria Falls. We will stay at The Victoria Falls Hotel, popularly known as “the grand old lady of the Falls”. Visit Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls village, then wind through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where you’ll take a rainforest walk, see the world’s largest waterfall, visit the Mpala African Village and spot local wildlife on an exciting Zambezi River sunset cruise. Enjoy touring and exploring by day, and comfortable accommodation in a 5 star hotel by night. Includes daily breakfast, all tours and farewell dinner.
In the morning you will board your flight from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and arrive at the Victoria Falls International Airport, on the Zimbabwean side of the Falls. Here you will be met and transferred to the Victoria Falls Hotel, where you will spend (2) nights in a bed and breakfast. The famous Victoria Falls is just a ten-minute walk away using the hotel’s private pathway, and “the smoke that thunders” or “Mosi-)-Tunya in the local dialect, is clearly audible and visible from this luxurious landmark.
First stop is the Big Tree – a massive baobab many hundreds of years old with a girth of some 22 meters. The tour continues to the Falls themselves, starting at Livingstone’s statue and Devil’s Cataract and proceeding through the rainforest to Danger Point. The total walk is 3kms with many spectacular view points along the way. Mpala Village Tour (African Village Visit) is about 15 mins out of town towards the airport. The village head will take the guests around the different homesteads in the surrounding area as well as the borehole. Guests will then be taken to the rural school where they will interact with the school children, teachers and headmaster. (not possible in school holidays). Sunset Cruise: Transfer to the jetty for a cruise along the Upper Zambezi in the late afternoon. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Zambezi River. Farewell Dinner included this evening.
